It is expected to have an effect on the application beyond the acquisition and understanding of simple concepts, enabling more natural interaction. “In 2019, teachers expect EdTech solutions that augment the reality of the classroom where the physical and digital realms can be seamlessly merged and a more holistic, multidisciplinary approach can be taken.” (Pouria Kay, CEO, Grib)
ㆍAdaptive learning tools such as Smart Sparrow, Knewton, DreamBox, and ScootPad. Adaptive learning is one approach to personalized learning. Adaptive learning is a sort of e-learning which provides learning information or methods to suit the learning level and style of the learner individually. Unlike traditional classes, this is an education that is tailored to the current statuses of the learner by collecting various data such as a result of previous classes and assessments. It makes to acquire the learning subjects by providing video, and simulation lecture, etc.
ㆍRobotic and coding Coding is the conversion of an algorithm into instructions of programming language. Coding is written instructions that a robot, artificial intelligence, or computer program can read and then execute. learners need to decide what tasks they want to accomplish via the robot, design the code, and then send it to the robot for the outcome. Robotics allows students to see and test their idea in a real situation as they go through trial and error until the robot’s movements perform as originally intended. It also allows developing logic and creativity problem-solving skills. The value and importance of dealing with coding and robots have grown up in the fourth industrial revolution. The following websites are useful to learn about coding: Code.org, Code for Life, Microsoft MakeCode, and CoSpaces Edu(VR design tool), etc.
1. Video editing
I have learned how to create instructional videos by using Camtasia and Adobe Premier. They are professional video editing applications. Especially, Camtasia is comparatively familiar with instructional design. Functions in Camtasia are proper to edit a video lecture. Adobe Premiere is a more comprehensive and trained editing application. Camtasia is also faster to export the lecture media rather than Adobe Premier. Moreover, I’m familiar with video-sharing platforms such as YouTube. Thus, I can create my learning lectures and release them easily.
2. Coding skill (HTML) & Website building
E-learning or hybrid learning with face-to-face class is a common method of learning to the digital age. Therefore, instructional designers must build online learning effectively to use for the students. Although the learning content was well constructed, the students will not pass well if the navigation or design of the learning website is not easy to cognize.
I had a chance to learn basic HTML in class ETEC500. When I built my first e-portfolio, I made it by putting the HTML. I also put some HTML codes on this e-portfolio. I can apply this ability to develop my online learning class. After learning a fundamental HTML coding, I learned how to logically design and organize a website in ETEC 644
3. Platforms (Using instructional applications)
In the first quarter, I learned various platforms for rich instructional courses in ETEC 537. At that time, I tried to experience many platforms, so I’m able to apply them in my future instructional design. The following files were some of my projects to introduce or explain how to use each platform in ETEC 537.
